Today is St. Nick’s Day according to the Czech calendar. St. Nick with the “cert” heads out into the streets and the households to find out if the kids have been good or bad.
In the rare case scenario of having been bad, the kids get coal from the “cert.” If they’ve been good, they get candy. The “certs” were sometimes really scary, and the little ones cried.
